Case Study: MRT Inspection Locked-coil Rope
Wire ropes provide a lifeline for industry, often under hostile and demanding conditions. Frequently human survival is at stake, and acceptance of second-rate maintenance and inspection procedures is a risk that nobody should – and can afford to – take. Any person involved in the management of wire rope, can and should be held accountable if and when a rope fails. If you are directly or indirectly responsible for the safe use of wire ropes, you must educate yourself on Magnetic Wire Rope Testing (MRT).
Please have a look at the following case study. It shows the power and accuracy of our MRT inspection equipment. The example illustrates the MRT inspection of a locked coil rope. The rope was used as a winch rope. It shows corrosion – including corrosion pitting – together with winding-on-drum damage.
